From: Cory Krivickas on Sunday, February 21, 1999 State: Florida Story: I am taking friends home after a night out. It is about 2 a.m. We are all seniors in high school. I am not sure of my speed when we first noticed the car right on my rear bumper but I know it was not more than 5 mph over the 35 speed limit. I have a radar detector and it did not signal that this was a cop. I sped up to about 45 to get the car off my tail but it stayed right on me. We live in a very unlit (not many street lights) community and this road is very dark. I asked my friends to see if they could see who the car was thinking maybe it was another friend messing around. The car's lights were too bright shining into my car and noone could make out the car. I sped up again to about 50 and started to lose the car but it quickly sped up and was right on us again. We started to freak thinking that maybe someone was going to rob us or jack my car. We decided to go to my girlfriends house and get her dad to help us. I sped up some more and the car stayed right on me and I missed the turn to my girlfriend's house because of my speed. We decided to turn at the next road and try to find a well lit and populated area. As I slow down to make the turn the blue lights come on. My friends and I are like "Oh damn, it's a cop". We couldn't believe it. When the deputy comes up to the car I told him he scared the hell out of us and I asked why he didn't pull me over way back. He said he wanted to see what I would do. I told him I sped up because I didn't know who was on me like that and he said that was not his problem. This sucks. Now I have a $250 ticket and God only knows how many points and all because this guy set me up. What do I do now? |
