From: Brody Castle on Wednesday, July 28, 1999 State: Florida Story: I was ticketed for making an illegal left hand turn out of a shopping center. I approached the exit in such a way that I could not see the "Right turn only" sign, and the median of the divided highway was large enough to provide left turn access. The officer pulled me over about 1/2 mile down the road. When I asked what I did wrong, he refused to tell me at first, just asked for my license and registration. Finally after repeated prodding, he did tell me - I explained that I couldn't have possibly seen the sign. He goes back to his car, and I think I'm getting a writen warning. He comes back with a $78 ticket! "Violation of a traffic control device"! I said "this is unbelieveable - you mean I would get the same ticket for running a red light?" The cop said "I don't make the rules". This is true, but for all you law inforcement officers out there - YOU DO ENFORCE THE RULES! LAWS ARE POWERLESS WITHOUT ENFORCEMENT! PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE AND DON'T PENALIZE THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T DESERVE IT! |
