From: Nick Sparks on Sunday, June 13, 1999 State: Georgia Story: I was starting a 14 hour drive to Dayton OH, when three cars passed me in the fast lane. Not a second later my radar detector went off and the three cars came screeching to the speed limit. I was travelling in front of a group of 4 cars and to my misfortune two of the three cars pulled in behind me and one in front of me. The cop pulled me and the car in front of me over and the other two cars kept driving. I was very polite to the cop until he told me I was doing 102 mph in a 70. I told him repeatedly that I was doing 85 and I would like to see a verification of my speed but he told me he didn't have to show me in the state of georgia. So, I lied and told him that my uncle was an Ohio state trooper and I knew what the law says. He didn't believe me but he showed me anyway to avoid a hassle. Sure enough, Jackpot. The radar gun show 101 Mph. The ticket was writen for 102. He proceeded to be beligerent for a little while but I remained polite. He filled the weather portion of the ticket out wrong. He put clear when it was actually foggy. Tell me at 4 A.M. in georgia when is it not foggy. Also It was very dark so there is another piece of evidence to the judge that it was posible for him to be mistaken. Not to mention the fact that these cars were doing 100mph so how could he have gotten a good look at them. Plus he only got one of the three cars that was doing 100. Every piece of evidence that I have is my word against his but I have a lot of my words to argue against his! |
