Story: ***Bogus speeding ticket*** I am willing to admit when I am speeding, but this was not one of those times. Will dispute out of principle, 'cause I'm really miffed about it.

Driving in a Jeep Wrangler with the top off at 9:30 at night, and we were wearing short sleeve t-shirts, so it was colder the faster we were driving. Had girlfriend in passenger seat, little brother and friend in back. The Jeep is stick, and the little annoying shift light comes on when you need to shift. It usually comes on around 40 mph, telling you to get into 5th gear.

Coming out of a 45 zone, entering a 35 zone, an officer coming around the corner toward us clocked us by hand with radar as we came over the hill. As he passed us, my girlfriend glanced at the spedo and saw it around 40. We had slowed down earlier for a light, so our speed was increasing, if anything! Thinking nothing of it, because neither of us thought 5 over was anything unusual, we kept going until he pulled us over. He said we were doing 50. I was still in 4th gear!

Needless to say, I was shocked. No one in the car thought we were speeding. (Just to compare, we drove 50 on the way back home, and we all agreed that 50 mph in an open Jeep at night is quite cold and annoying. We also tested the shift light, and sure enough, around 40 it came on. We left it in 4th while going 50 and it was revving quite high.)

One problem: I'm on supervision. The 3 month probationary period is over, but I still have that 'year before you can ask for supervision again' thing. Don't know if this is a 'free advice' site, or just a FYI. Any thoughts would be helpful and appreciated. I could repay with some good jokes, but that's all I got.
