From: Christine Marie Eagan on Tuesday, May 18, 1999 State: Iowa Story: My father, Patrick Eagan, is an Iowa State patrolman who could also write a book about excuses for getting out of a speeding ticket!!!!! Perhaps we could be related??? Anyway, he's heard them all!!! He's about ready to retire from the patrol in the next year, and I'm sure he could give you some good stories. My dad would pull me over on the highway, just to talk to me to see how I am, and everyone in our small town of 1500 would think that I was speeding and getting a ticket from my dad!! He would pull over my mom and my brother too. And of course the town gossip would be the state patrolman pulls over his family several times a week!!!! My mother, Mary Eagan, is also the county dispatcher, so she hears all the gossip too!! Perhaps one of the best stories is when I left home to go back to college, and my dad, who was off duty at the time called the sheriff's office and sent an officer to pull me over ASAP. Here I was doing the speed limit, with my seatbelt on, minding my own business, when I see red lights flashing behind me!!!! I was thinking...WHAT?????? The officer whom I knew by first name, walked up to my car window, flashed his light in my face, asked who I was, etc. and very sternly told me "you need to go home. You forgot your laundry." I was scared for no reason!!! I did go back home, but I was pretty erked at my father!!!! All in all, it was pretty funny, though!!! |
