From: John L. Womeldorff on Wednesday, June 23, 1999 State: Kansas Story: I was stopped in Parsons,Kansas where I live July 5th. for a tint check. I've had my new Dakota R/T tinted since I got it last winter. I knew it was to dark. I'd had legal 35% put on it and I guess the factory glass had very little tint in it because you could barely tell it was tinted. So I had 20% put over it which really made the R/T look coordinated since its a club cab and the back sides and rear window are factory extremely dark in the glass it self. No one had bothered me the police would wave at me and never bother me. Then on the 5th. I get pulled over. I thought I did something wrong, but the officer said I had not done anything wrong he just wanted to check my tint(we were in the middle of the highway mind you) It came up 13%. He told me he could make me park it till peeled. But would give me a week. That state law is 35% but Parsons will let you by with 30%. I told him why now that everyone including him had seen me numerous times and never stopped me. He said this was the second time he'd seen me and he was on a call the first time. I see him all the time sitting with his radar. I told him I didn't think they were bothering anyone anymore. He said this was his first day on dayshift and the guy who drove that car that has a tint meter in it didn't care but he cares the law is the law. I know I was illegel but wheres the consistancy if they all are not going to enforce it then its not right. While he's standing in the highway through town talking to me I saw numerous cars go by so dark you couldn't see in ad still see plenty in town. Well As you know I'll be peeling tint this weekend. I know it isn't supposed to be to dark for there protection but you going to tell me that driver or passengers in a limo can't shoot you to? Thank You |
