From: Mr. bpc on Wednesday, August 18, 1999 State: Kansas Story: Back in Nov 1998 on the Tue nite before Thanxgiving, we were driving from Colorado to Indiana to see family. Around mile marker 148, I got stopped by the Kansas Highway Patrol for doing 82 in a 70 mph zone which was a $59 ticket. I was doing 85 mph on some parts before. After we got home to Colorado after Thanksgiving, I contacted the Ellis County Attorney's office and got the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation of 80/70 (in KS, up 10 over on interstate is a non-moving violation but can transfer to home state). I ended up paying $55 for the ticket and since Colorado law provides that as long as you pay the ticket, there will be no points/no record of the ticket (minor violations only). Otherwise, I would have fought the ticket to keep it away from my insurance. |
