From: Lisa on Saturday, September 4, 1999 State: New Jersey Story: Two days ago I received a speeding ticket for going 52mph in a 35. This traumatic situation occurred at 10am when I was coming home from my first day at the college that I commute to daily. I was five minutes from my house and had gained speed while driving down a hill. I was stopped by a police car that was driving in the opposite direction. The police car flew by me so fast, that I'm positive that they had to be going at least 60 mph (but it's not unjust for police to speed, now is it? I don't think so). I was approached by two officers and began to cry because this wasn't the first time I had received a ticket and I knew this would be catastrophic. By getting this ticket, inevitably I'd have no way of transporting myself to college this year because I was already on the verge of losing my licence and now my driving suspenion would escalate to two years! I was already losing my licence for other tickets I recieved and my insurance was astronomical. After explaining my predicament to the officers they gave me my summons and had a field day mocking and berating me. One of the officers had seniority over the other officer and took it upon himself to scream at me and call me a child because I was crying. He was the type of man that most likely just got finished beating his wife that morning and countinued with me. Is there any way that I can fight this ticket and possibly salvage my licence? |
