From: Steve on Friday, December 3, 1999 State: Oregon Story: I am a travelling sales/service representative for a technical company. The job requires that I drive 2500 to 3500 miles each month. I was on Highway 30 heading east toward Portland in a 55mph zone going downhill. I saw a police car coming up the other side. My natural reaction was to let off the gas while checking my speedometer. As I was doing so he passed me and went out of sight aroud the bend and up the hill. I continued on for about 2 miles thinking that I wasn't speeding or was't speeding enough for him to come back for me. He did however swing around and pulled me over. He said I was doing 70 something. I am technically a chemist and realize there are many built in errors with any speed detection devices. I suspect the greatest error exists when the police cruiser is headed the opposite direction. I am going to fight this ticket because I cannot afford to have my insurance rates increase, nor can I afford to loose my license in the future. The nature of my career requires that I can drive nearly every day. If you have any helpful hints to fight this one, let me know. |
