State: South Carolina

Story: Well, there is a little town outside of Hilton Head Is. South Carolina called, Bluffton, in Beaufort County. Well, its a big joke in the town that if you are from out of state, you can not go more than a weekend without getting a ticket there. Well, I drive a souped up sports car, which does draw attention. (nothing wrong with that) and i had an police car follow me all weekend. Well, there was a four way stop. no one was at the interesection. there car in front of me stoped, then turned. i then came to the stop sign and STOPED. there was a car to my left and a car behind that (the police car). I arrived at a stop before the car to my left (by maybe 3 or 5 seconds). Well, i then made my turn left, and the police pulled a U-turn and pulled me over. (the same cop who had followed me all weekend). Anyhow, he wrote the ticket, and i asked 'how much is this' (failure to yield right of way). I was polite in asking, and his reply was 'its on the ticket'. so he walks away, and i unfold the ticket as he drives off.

$227 hand written on the ticket. Anyhow, i had one month to appear in court, and luckly my grandmother lives in bluffont, and made a few calls, and the ticket as they put it 'was never issued'. so, basically, it never happened. yeah, i got lucky there, but still, $227 for failure to yeild right of way, when i was not at fault...and i believe you are to yield to the car to your right anyhow....
